New wine ruling round-up

As a budding wine enthusiast, I say "Cheers"! But I'm not holding my breath that the States will enact legislation to truly adopt an open eCommerce model for inter/intrastate shipments. To paraphrase Dennis Miller, "The States can't even pave f%$kin' roads, do we really expect them to handle this?"

A Battle Over Programming at National Public Radio

Sad commentary when anything not in lock-step with the propoganda being put out by the current administration/legislative branch is considered "biased". My guess is that if you looked at the national demographics you probably would find more registered Democrats than Republicans, (but that's just a hunch), but that does not qualify as "bias" in my book. I guess I'm a little polly-anna that I consider the Press to be the 4th arm of the checks and balances system of governement.

How Hollywood works

OK, so not everyone in Tinseltown commands the power/money/ego that the Governor of Calif. does. Regardless, this article is a fascinating look into how the big stars get paid and what they get paid (planes. lodging, cooks, etc.). Yes, "Ahnold", you are a true Republican and it looks like your laywers are worth every penny - all two billion of them...

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival: Embracing the Random

"As the current Apple slogan has it, "Life is random," and listeners seem to be finding ways to make that truism true. And so Coachella 2005 was a Shuffler's delight, the perfect festival for a crowd that seemed happy to hear a bit of everything. "

It's official - the hip factor of the iPod has just been thrown out like yesterday's spoiled muffaletta (don't get me wrong - I generally like Emeril and love my 3G iPod). The iPod has officially "Jumped the Shark". Look for a "Kathy Lee Gifford" model coming soon pre-loaded with Cody's favorite children's songs.

Wait a minute, they're all Kathy Lee Gifford models if you think about it, considering they're prooduced in Chinese, off-shore sweatshops, probably with underage labor, thus enabling the fat gross-margins for Mr. Jobs & Co.

Just my $.02 though....

Can Democrats, Like Republicans, Get Religion?

Opinion piece on what John Podesta's been up to post-Clinton and his efforts for a unified Dem platform. Howard Dean - please listen!!!!

"This assumes, of course, that such a catalyst is necessary. The electorate contains many progressives with religious convictions, as Podesta's own poll demonstrates. It's also true, however, that they are politically engaged. And they're Democrats.
Podesta hopes to rescue the Democratic Party by giving it something it already has"
